Docs Reports Retention

Retention

Retention is one of the most important metrics you can track when it comes to any SaaS business. It’s a measure of how many users are still engaged with your app over time, and it’s a critical indicator of your app’s overall health. This report is designed to help you understand your app’s retention rates and analyze cohorts:

  1. Revenue retention: how much of your revenue is retained over time.
  2. Logo retention: how many of your users are retained over time.

Revenue retention cohorts

revenue retention cohort table

The top table provides a breakdown of revenue retention by cohort, which shows the value (or percentage) of revenue retained over time by each monthly cohort. Cohorts are broken down by the first month that they made a payment for your app, and the percentage of retained revenue is calculated by dividing the retained revenue by the total revenue for each cohort. Months since first paid is the number of months since the cohort’s first payment, and retained revenue is the value of the retained revenue for each cohort.

Logo retention cohorts

logo retention cohort table

The bottom table provides a breakdown of logo retention by cohort, which shows the number (or percentage) of users retained over time by each monthly cohort. Cohorts are broken down by the month that they first installed your app, and the percentage of retained users is calculated by dividing the retained users by the total users for each cohort. Months since install is the number of months that have passed since the cohort’s first installation, and retained users is the number of retained users for each cohort.
