Docs Your first 7 days Day 1: Segments

Day 1: Segments

There’s magic in the list

It might not be what you expected us to highlight first, but before anything else, it’s essential to get to know customer lists. Why? Because if you can master the list, you can master the power of Mantle.

The Customer list (found by clicking ‘Customers’ in the side nav) is a view into everyone that’s ever installed your app. Here you can quickly look up individual customers or sort by fields including:

  • Current status (like Subscribed, Cancelled and Trial)
  • Revenue metrics like Average Monthly Revenue or Customer Lifetime Value
  • App and Shopify plan
  • Key dates like first seen and uninstalled
  • Custom fields you add

This makes it easy to find the merchant you’re looking for whether you only need the glance of their row or their full profile by clicking into it.

But we said ✨MAGIC✨, and this happens when you start putting filters to work. Filters are how you shape the scope of the list into the exact segment you want to see.

Building segments

From the Customers screen, click the More Filters button to view a list of all of the filters that are available.

More segment filters

Select and configure as many filters as you want. For example, we might want to create a filter of Customers with a Shopify Plan of Shopify Plus, a minimum Install Duration of 14 days, and a Reviews property of “has not left a review”.

Create new segment

Then, we click the Create Segment button, saving our segment for use across Mantle. We can quickly view it in the Customers list next time, filter reports by this segment, or use it to target an email campaign.

Mastering segments

You can build segments for each role inside your company and make it easy for everyone to drill down to the customers that matter to them for their use case.

We’ve only scratched the surface here of what’s possible with Segments. Learn more about the power behind the Customers view and segments here, or join the discussion and share ideas in Discord.

In our next email, we’ll explore Mantle’s most valuable and used reports and start pulling insights from our data.
