Bundle discounts
Bundle discounts turn your app ecosystem into a retention powerhouse. When customers subscribe to all required apps, they automatically get rewarded with discounts. Cancel any subscription? The discount disappears instantly.
It’s incredibly effective at getting customers invested in your entire suite rather than cherry-picking individual apps. Apps with flex billing offer real billing discounts, while others provide equivalent app credits that deliver the same value.
How bundles work
Bundle discounts work on an all-or-nothing basis:
- Customer subscribes to all required apps → Discount automatically applies
- Customer cancels any subscription → Discount is immediately removed
- Customer resubscribes to the missing app → Discount comes back
That’s it. No codes to remember, no manual application needed. Mantle handles everything automatically based on what subscriptions the customer has active.
Creating bundles
To set up a new bundle:
- Navigate to Promotions → Bundles on the sidebar
- Click Add bundle

- Give it a name (this will be visible to customers, so make it clear and descriptive)
Bundle settings

Eligibility: Choose who gets access to your bundle:
- All plans: Bundle applies to any plan type
- All flex billing plans: Only works with flex billing plans
- Select plans: Pick specific plans that qualify
App selection: Click Select apps to include more apps in your bundle. You can choose between two subscription requirements:
- All apps must have subscriptions: Customers need ALL selected apps with active subscriptions for the discount to apply (default behavior)
- At least X apps must have subscriptions: Customers only need a minimum number of apps subscribed to qualify for the bundle discount
Customer targeting: Check Limit this promotion to specific customers if you want to restrict the bundle to certain customer segments or tags.
Discount methods

Bundles handle discounts differently depending on your billing setup:
Automatic discount (flex billing only)
If all your bundled apps use flex billing, you can offer real discounts:
- Customers actually pay less each month
- The discount shows up right on their bill
- Clean and transparent
App credits (everything else)
For bundles with apps that don’t all use flex billing, you’ll give app credits instead:
- Credits get added to the customer’s account at the end of each billing cycle
- Same financial value as a real discount
- Credits can be used against any app charges
- Totally automatic - no work on your end
Once you’re done setting it up, switch from Draft to Active and you’re good to go. Once a customer subscribes to all apps based on the bundle rules you have set up, they will get the applied discount.
Managing bundles
Keep track of your bundles from the main bundles page:

You can see:
- Which bundles are active
- How many times each bundle has been used
- Which apps are included in each bundle
Click on any bundle to see more details:
- Active discounts: Which customers currently have this bundle
- Expired discounts: Past usage (shows “No expired discounts” if none)
- Edit settings like discount percentage and duration
Once you’re done configuring your bundle, set the status from Draft to Active and click Save to create the bundle.
Pro tips
Bundle design
- Pick complementary apps: Bundle apps that actually work well together
- Make the discount meaningful: If the savings aren’t worth it, customers won’t care
- Keep it simple: Don’t over-complicate with too many apps in one bundle
Pricing strategy
- Test different discount amounts: Start conservative and adjust based on adoption
- Consider your margins: Make sure the bundle still makes business sense
- Watch the competition: Know what similar discount strategies are out there
Marketing bundles
- Tell existing customers: Your single-app customers are the best candidates for bundles
- Explain the value: Help customers understand why they’d want the additional apps
- Be clear about terms: Make sure customers know canceling any subscription kills the discount
Monitoring
- Track adoption: See how many customers actually use your bundles
- Check retention: Do bundled customers stick around longer?
- Measure revenue impact: Are bundles increasing overall customer value?
Remember: Bundles are great for encouraging customers to try more of your apps, but they should make sense for both you and your customers. The goal is creating genuine value, not just moving numbers around.
